Hyderabad: IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao lashed out at the Opposition parties for stalling Assembly proceedings during the Question Hour.Addressing the media at TRS Legislature Party office here on Thursday, the Minister accused the Opposition parties of indulging in cheap politics.
He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao displayed restraint on Wednesday and abstained from ‘skinning’ the Opposition leaders over their misrule when in power. He also alleged that BJP leaders like Dr K Lakshman and G Kishan Reddy had failed to get funds from the Centre to Telangana while its counterpart Andhra Pradesh was getting huge funds.
Rama Rao pointed out that the Opposition got 6.23 hours to speak on farmers’ suicides issue while the ruling party spoke for 1.50 minutes, including the Chief Minister during his 105 minutes, drawing out long-term and short-term plans to overcome the problem. “Despite our promise to take steps to waive off the crop loans, the Opposition was playing spoilsport,” he alleged.
“The misery accumulated during the 60 years of the Congress rule and the TDP rule will not go in 15 months,” he maintained. The 15-month old TRS government could do something in power, irrigation and others, he claimed. These problems needed some more time to solve and the government was prepared to address all the issues, Rama Rao stated.
“We addressed power problem and will supply 9-hour power till next April. We stopped power-cuts and rising bills,” he said, adding that steps were being taken to complete the Water Grid project, de-silted 7,000 lakes under Mission Kakatiya and speedily completing irrigation projects. “The BJP can impress upon the NDA government to release funds to the State. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should provide succour to help suicides’ victims. We have listed our programmes and schemes of 15 months in the House,” he said.
