Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday declared that his government would give due recognition to former deputy chief minister JV Narsing Rao after taking views from family members and well-wishes of the departed leader.

He termed Narsing Rao as an illustrious politician who always worked for the well-being and welfare of the masses.Chandrashekar Rao was the chief guest at a programme held in a city hotel during the centenary celebrations of Narsing Rao.

Rao recalled about the praises heaped by villagers in his Siddipet constituency (in 1985) on ‘JV Saheb’, as Narsing Rao was known popularly at that time, for laying electricity lines during his stint as power and irrigation minister of united Andhra Pradesh.

Despite being a leader of the masses, Narsing Rao was not given due respect in the undivided State and that speaks of the negligent attitude shown towards sons of Telangana soil.

Even former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao was no exception. Now with Telangana State coming into existence, the TRS government is setting right all these anomalies.

Poets Dasarathi, Kaloji, freedom fighter Konda Lakshman Bapuji and Telangana ideologue Prof Jayashankar were given their due.

In the same way, government would honor JV Narsing Rao in the near future, Rao promised.

Earlier, Congress senior leader K Jana Reddy stated that he learnt many things from Narsing Rao’s disciplined and distinguished career although he did not know him personally. It was a coincidence, Jana said, that he served in a few posts such as R & B minister and Hyderabad Exhibition Society president which were held by Narsing Rao decades ago.

He said Narsing Rao waged an indirect fight, akin to the Telangana Congressmen, for a separate Telangana. He earlier brought this to the notice of Fazal Ali Commission also, Jana recalled.

Meanwhile, JV’s colleague P Narsa Reddy urged the government to set up a memorial after the departed leader.Rajya Sabha MP K Keshav Rao, Chief Whip Koppula Eashwar, former MLC Kamalakar Rao, Congress leaders G Vivek, G Vinod, K Suresh Reddy besides family members of JV Narsing Rao and well wishers attended the programme.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister released two books on the life history of Narsing Rao on the occasion. While ‘Telangana Muddubidda’ (in Telugu) was written by senior journalist T Udayavarlu, ‘A gentleman Politician’ (in English) was authored by senior journalists Ch Rajeshwar Rao and Dr CGK Murthy. Later, Rao felicitated the authors for their work.
