Hyderabad: The nine-day long Bathukamma festivities will culminate in "Saddula Bathukamma" fete to be conducted at Tank Bund on Tuesday evening. The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has directed various government departments to leave no stone unturned to organise the event on a grand scale.

Telangana Jagruthi president and Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha will be leading the procession along with thousands of women, who will be carrying colorful decorations of Bathukammas overhead. However, there is no official confirmation about participation of the Chief Minister in the programme.

After directions from KCR, Principal Secretary to CM S Narsing Rao held a review meeting with top officials of various departments here on Monday. Arrangements would be made for women to prepare Bathukammas on LB Stadium. Hyderabad Collector Rahul Bojja is personally monitoring arrangements.

A big procession will be held from LB Stadium till Tank Bund with women marching with Bathukammas for their immersion in Hussain Sagar waters. Authorities are expecting around 20,000 women to participate in the procession that is expected to reach Tank Bund around 6.30 pm.

Artists and cultural groups from 10 districts of Telangana will be a special attraction with their performances en route. A big stage was erected in the middle of the Tank Bund where the chief guests will be sitting to greet women marching with floral decorations.

Authorities have decked up the entire route with LED lighting. Also sky lanterns will be released to mark the occasion. Fireworks display at TanK Bund, Necklace Road, Safilguda lake among others will be organised towards the end of the programme.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made elaborate arrangements for Saddula Bathukamma. GHMC has formed 11 Bathukamma Action Teams (BATs) which include about 95 sanitary field assistants (SFAs) and about 1,100 sanitation workers.
