Hyderabad: Veteran CPI leader K Narayana has been missing for more than six months from his house in Basheerbagh, according to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Though Narayana is an active politician, who is seen at various dharnas, left party meetings and on television channels, was not visible to the GHMC enumerators who claim to have visited his house several times and found it locked.

The GHMC had pasted a notice at his Basheerbagh residence saying, "It has been reported to the undersigned that you have been found absent from the place of your ordinary residence as given in the electoral roll for the last more than six months. It is, therefore, presumed that you have ceased to be ordinarily resident in the constituency at the above mentioned address."

“Take notice that the undersigned proposes to delete your name from the electoral roll under the provisions of Section 22 of the Representation of the People Act 1950/Rule 21 A or the Registration of Electors Rules 1960 on the ground that you have ceased to be ordinarily resident in the constituency. In case you have anything to submit against the action proposed to be taken in relation to you; you may appear personally before the Electoral Registration Officer.”

Narayana took serious objection for pasting notice at his residence. The CPI leader questioned how can the GHMC officials claim that he was not residing for more than six months. He added that this act by GHMC was an insult to the man of his stature.

He then checked if his and his family members names existed in the voters list or not and he found that they were missing. Following reports in media, the GHMC on Thursday clarified that GHMC did not remove the names of Narayana and his family members from the electoral list.

The GHMC circle 10B Deputy Commissioner P Mahender said that the civic body has verified the electoral list and confirmed that their names are existing in the electoral rolls with EPIC numbers KJY 4591947 ( K Narayana) and KJY 4592028 (K Vasumathi ). But earlier they were in 9 B circle.
