Infrastructural woes delay Bibinagar SWM plant works
The much awaited Solid Waste Management (SWM) plant at Chinnaravulapally in Bibinagar which was supposed to start functioning in August 2015 is unlikely to be ready before March as the construction of electric towers and other infrastructure works are still pending.

Hyderabad: The much awaited Solid Waste Management (SWM) plant at Chinnaravulapally in Bibinagar which was supposed to start functioning in August 2015 is unlikely to be ready before March as the construction of electric towers and other infrastructure works are still pending.
According to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, the civic body is yet receive permission from Chinnaravulapally village panchayat for laying roads from Bibinagar. They added that the panchayat has asked the GHMC to lay its own roads for transporting solid waste from Jawaharnagar dump yard in the city limits. The officials said that many other infrastructure issues related to the plant are still pending and is likely to be completed by the end of February.
The officials are also of the view that that the delay is because the Telangana State Irrigation department had recently accorded permission to use the Musi River water along with other permissions related to the power plant. Other clearances relating to the project are expected by December.
The project was supposed to be taken up on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode with Ramky Enviro. The SWM plant would generate close to 48 MW of power, which will be generated through two small 24 MW units. The estimated budget for the project is Rs 700 crore.
Though Ramky and GHMC had entered into an agreement in 2008, only treatment and disposal of the waste has been being carried out at the Jawaharnagar dump yard so far.
