Congress senior leader S Jaipal Reddy responded to the comments made by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and said that Telangana state would not have been made without his efforts as a Union Minister.

Addressing the public meeting in Warangal, Jaipal Reddy reminded that he was the only Union Minister from Telangana while there were four from AP and said that the Telangana state became a reality with Hyderabad getting retained as capital with his efforts else Hyderabad would have been made a Union Territory.

Continuing further, Mr Reddy said that he obstructed the hurdles in the formation of separate state created by then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The Congress leader further added that he clung to the post of Union Minister unlike KCR who resigned from the LS.

He even said that KCR visited him in Delhi along with AICC president Sonia Gandhi thanking them for Telangana. Mr Reddy also said that KCR had asked him to be the Chief Minister of Telangana and he had responded with asking KCR to merge the TRS into the Congress which was promised earlier. But KCR who assured to look into the aspect completely forgot it, said Jaipal Reddy.
