Hyderabad: Following the announcement to celebrate Christmas as a State festival, the State government has decided to distribute clothes to poor Christians across the State on December 16, Former Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah has said.
Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he said the State government had already allocated Rs 15.37 crore for the festivities in 195 churches.
The government would also host Christmas banquet in nodal churches across the State in all districts on December 19, he added.
Rajaiah thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the initiative, and said the TRS government was committed to welfare of poor by taking up several welfare programmes.
