Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to launch a mobile app for receiving complaints directly from citizens under the city limits. The Corporation is likely to launch the app in couple of days.

Besides this, the civic body is planning to use WhatsApp to receive road related complaints from citizens, where they can take a picture of the damaged road and send it to the concerned number provided by the GHMC.

Currently, the GHMC has been depending on sanitary field assistants and engineering wing officials to identify damaged roads and potholes under the corporation limits. In order to involve citizens and receive complaints directly from them, the civic body will use WhatsApp.

The pictures of damaged roads and potholes from citizens will be tracked by the engineering wing through geo mapping, where they can direct the concerned officials to resolve the complaint. The civic body, after attending the complaint, its status with picture will be directly sent to the citizen, who raised it.

GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy held a meeting with additional commissioner for information technology K Surender Mohan, Chief Engineer Suresh Kumar and representatives from Forum for Good Governance in this regard and received suggestions to speed up the road repairing process in the city. Meanwhile, the civic body has identified about 11,177 pot holes in the city limits and filled about 8,300 in the city limits, Janardhan said. The remaining 2,877 potholes would be filled at the earliest, he added.
