R Ravindra Kumar NaikHyderabad : CPI MLA R Ravindra Kumar Naik Thursday urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to solve the problems of the Asha workers and see that they would not resume agitation.

The CPI MLA addressed a letter to the Chief Minister on Thursday in this regard. He pointed out that some 25,000 ASHA workers went on strike for 106 days and called it off on the assurance of the State government that it would solve the problems of the ASHA workers.

“The State government should solve the problems of the ASHA workers sympathetically,” he stated and lamented that ASHA workers were getting a paltry honorarium Rs 1,200 per month. Reminding the Chief Minister’s statement that his government would increase the salary of ASHA workers up to Rs 5,000, Naik said the latter’s assurance was not yet implemented.

Naik stated the government should ensure that ASHA workers get Rs 15,000 as per Minimum Wages Act and implement the Upaadi Haami Scheme and induct eligible ASHA workers as ANMs providing pension, gratuity, TA, DA and uniforms.
