A mathematics professor at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, Gadadhar Misra has been chosen for the national-level Mathematician of the Year award to be presented by Ponnala Foundation.

Warangal: A mathematics professor at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, Gadadhar Misra has been chosen for the national-level ‘Mathematician of the Year’ award to be presented by Ponnala Foundation.

The award would be presented to the Professor at a ceremony at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal in Kazipet on December 22 (Tuesday) at 11am, informed the Foundation Chairman and former minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah.

He said the award presentation ceremony would be attended by National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Chairman B V R Mohan Reddy, C R Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Director U Yugandhar, retired IAS M Gopalakrishna and NIT Director Prof T Srinivasa Rao.

Mathematician of the Year Award carries a cash prize of Rs 1,00,116 and a citation. The Ponnala Foundation instituted the award to commemorate the birth anniversary of great mathematician of India, Srinivasa Ramanujan, which falls on December 22.
