Tanduru (Ranga Reddy): In their over enthusiasm, the authorities of the Road Transport Corporation constructed bus stands out of reach of the bus passengers. Many of these bus stands turned into cattle sheds if not for some other anti-social activities. A case in point is the bus stand constructed at Yalal mandal headquarters.

The bus stand was constructed away from the village and out of reach of the passengers. The buses seldom stop at the bus stand. People, particularly college girls, who wait for the buses at the village centre where not even bus shelter is available, are forced to face the ogling youth before boarding the bus.

Surprisingly, Yalal mandal falls in the constituency of Transport Minister Mahender Reddy. If the situation is like this in the home constituency of the transport minister one could imagine the plight of other mandals. Not only Yalal, the bus stands constructed at Peddemul, Basheerabad and other mandal headquarters are also out of reach of the bus passengers. They have to walk long distance to reach the bus stand but before they reach it buses stop at their villages.

Many of these bus stands are turning into havens for anti-social elements during night time. Passengers alleged that they have taken this issue to the notice of the RTC officials many a time but to no avail. The girl students are compelled to stand before shops and at some places even near toddy compounds facing embarrassing situations.

When contacted, depot manager Krishna Murthy said that the bus stand at Yaal would be brought into use in a couple of days. However, the bus stands at Peddemu and Basheerabad were constructed away from the village which is causing inconvenience to the villagers.
