Hyderabad: Bringing smiles to thousands of outsourced and contract workers in the State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced bonanza for them on the eve of New Year. The government has decided to regularise services of contract staff and hike the salaries of outsourced employees.

It also decided to release District Selection Committee (DSC) notification for filling up 15,000 to 20,000 teacher posts and notification for recruitment of 9,281 various posts in the Police Department. The decision to this effect was taken during a high-level review meeting convened by the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat here on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Ministers Eatala Rajender and Lakshma Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, Finance Department Special Secretary Pradeep Chandra, DGP Anurag Sharma and senior officials of different departments participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, Chandrashekar Rao pointed out that during the statehood movement, the TRS had promised to regularise the services of outsourced and contract employees. In view of this, he directed the heads of all departments to furnish the list of such employees by January 2 to enable the State Cabinet to discuss the issue. He said after the regularisation of existing contract employees, the State government would completely weed out the system of contract employees.

Rao directed the officials to enhance salaries of outsourcing and hand-holding employees. The issue relating to the enhancement of salaries will also be placed before the Cabinet where the quantum of hike in the salaries will be decided.

According to sources, the government is likely to enhance salaries by Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 for the outsourcing employees. It is estimated that more than 30.000 contract and outsourced employees are likely to be benefited by the government’s decision.

In an apparent move to woo voters for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, the KCR government has reduced the property tax to Rs 101 from Rs 1,200 for the weaker sections. Chandrashekar Rao also directed the officials to take action on the grievances submitted by the people during his visits to different parts of the State.
