Hyderabad: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will lay foundation stone for 4-laning of Yadadri-Warangal section of the NH 202 in Telangana on Monday.

The works will be taken up on a stretch of 99.10 km stretch connecting Yadadri and Warangal. The project includes 4 bypasses (at Vangapalli, Aler, Janagaon and Warangal), 2 ROBs, 4 vehicular underpasses, 1 overpass, 3 pedestrian underpasses, 3 major bridges and 25 minor bridges.

The project is estimated to cost of Rs 1905 crore and will provide four-lane connectivity between Hyderabad and Warangal, which promotes the industrial activities around Warangal and also saves fuel, time, apart from improving the safety and comfort. Gadkari will also inaugurate a major bridge built across the river Godavari at Eturunagaram in Warangal at a cost of Rs 340 crore, according to state Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao.

The project was taken up by the Centre under phase-I of the infrastructure development works under the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. The bridge will provide transportation to the most backward areas in Khammam and Warangal districts.

The distance between Bhadra­ch­alam in Khammam and Bhupalapatnam in Chhattisgarh will be reduced by 120 km and the travel time by three hours. The construction works began in Mar­ch 2012 and was completed last month.
