Hyderabad: In view of confusion over the reservation of wards in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the Congress and the TDP are focusing the campaign on their performance when their party was ruling the united Andhra Pradesh State.
Major political parties particularly Congress and Telugu Desam are now lashing out at the TRS government for making tall and false promises to the people. As the campaign started picking up, the parties are involving union ministers, state ministers, MPs, MLAs and even party chiefs for canvassing. Though the parties officially kick started their campaigns, they are yet to select the candidates for the contest.
A senior BJP leader told The Hans India that the State government has strategically put the Opposition in a peculiar condition by not declaring the ward-wise reservations. There are 24 Assembly segments falling under the GHMC limits.
The leaders of all the political parties have been only canvassing to enhance either the party's charisma or party chief’s face value by lashing out at the government. However, the TRS has taken a lead over its rivals by unleashing publicity blitzkrieg across the City.
About 2,500 hoardings are being put up highlighting their party chief K Chandrashekar Rao’s governance and State government's schemes across the city. While it occupies most of the hoardings, its ally AIMIM is leaving no stone unturned in its area of influence.
On the other hand, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are striving hard to step up campaigning. Amongst contesting parties, BJP was the first party to adorn most of the junctions with party flags as they were denied of hoardings.
While the TDP and BJP have not more than 30 hoardings across the city, the Congress has been restricted only to the Gandhi Bhavan. The BJP and TDP on Thursday continued their campaigning with the Union Ministers.
The TRS Ministers are busy trying to cosy up with the GHMC staff by actively taking part in programmes like orientation camps and several other division-wise inaugurations and foundation stone ceremonies.
The TRS has conducted several campaigns with their MLAs and Ministers in various divisions in the city. Of which, Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao public meeting at Chitrapuri colony near Manikonda in Rajendra Nagar Assembly constituency has stolen the show on Thursday.
KTR has sanctioned about Rs 1 crore to lay roads on behalf of his ministry and stressed that the State government is committed towards the concerns of people and said the people hailing from the other States and residing in Hyderabad have equal rights in the State.
Interestingly, the Congress is the only major political party, which is yet to begin the poll campaign. Other political parties including Lok Satta in alliance with the Left parties have launched "Whats App Your Problems-Your Voice in Our Manifesto" campaign on Thursday.
