Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and IT minister K T Rama Rao is all set to become Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) minister. He could be made the MA&UD minister once the GHMC civic polls over. Responding to the development, the IT Minister said the MA&UD portfolio is a challenge worth accepting.

On a lighter note, he said he wanted to adopt the municipal administration ministry on the lines of Telugu film hero Mahesh Babu, who exhorted the people to adopt a village and work on its development. Speaking to the media persons here on Sunday, the minister expressed his willingness to accept the new responsibility and thanked the Chief Minister for the decision.

“We have already made it our goal to make Hyderabad a global investment destination. With full involvement of the ministers and official machinery, the city will be developed to global standards. We are going to witness an unparalleled development.” he promised. He sounded confident about the victory of TRS in coming GHMC polls.

“We have made ample use of publicity means. The people of Hyderabad are with us and we are going to have a landslide victory,” he said. The minister predicted the demise of TDP after the GMHC polls. He advised TDP leaders Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh to focus on the state to which they belong to rather than taking a political interest in Hyderabad.

“They are at the helm of the affairs of a state. They have a new capital city to build. They better take care of that business,” he said. Rama Rao also found fault with the comments of BJP Chief Kishan Reddy, Union ministers Bandaru Dattatreya and Venkaiah Naidu.

“It is not correct for the Union Ministers to mislead on the double bedroom housing scheme and other development projects. Venkaiah Naidu’s comments against the TRS leadership will be proved wrong once the results are out,” he said.

City developed by all
Addressing another event named ‘the Spirit of Hyderabad’ here, Rama Rao rubbished the comments of TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu that he had developed the city in 9 years. “This city is of 400-year old. Ever since its inception, the city has been developing and expanding. Nobody can claim that they were the raison d'etre for the city’s development,” he averred.
