Nizamabad: The activists of ABVP and BJP and police officials on Thursday paid tributes to Hanumanthappa, the Siachen martyr and raised slogans praising him and other Indian soldiers who lost their lives while protecting the country.

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa, who was battling for his life at the Army’s Research & Referral hospital in New Delhi, breathed his last on Thursday morning.

ABVP activists paid tributes to Hanumanthappa at Martyrs statue in Yellammagutta. Its city in-charge Jaganmohan said that youth should follow the way shown by the martyrs. District secretary Vishnuvardhan, co-convener Rakesh, city secretary Balaji and others also paid tributes.

Town CI Yadaiah lamented that it was very unfortunate wherein 10 Indian soldiers died due to ice storm. Hanumanthapa fought to survive for six days but finally he gave up, he added.
