Hyderabad: Most of the participants of Vaktha programme, a two-day training workshop on public speaking, felt liberated and their newly found confidence was visible. The training programme was jointly organised by HMTV and the Kaushalya School of Life Skills in Jubilee Hills on February 13 and 14. Aspiring politicians and social workers who were instilled with the high level of self-confidence felt like a bird being released from its cage.

They have vowed to influence the society and achieve higher goals with the help of their enhanced communication skills. Some of them felt they have attained a complete change in their attitude and body language within two days of training. Kapil Group Director (Training) and the lead faculty of the program D Bal Reddy said the public speaking was a skill, which could only be honed by regular practice. He taught important tips and techniques of public speaking to the participants.

"People neglect to hone their speaking skills, however, there are occasions in their lives which compel them to speak out. Therefore to face such a situation, everyone should get themselves prepared, lest they will face failure," he said and added that beautifully packaged goods are the first to attract the attention of people because of their ‘presentation’. S Anand Parjanya, the faculty of body language, trained the participants on maintaining their posture while delivering the speech and communicating at a public place.

He explained how an orator should communicate the subject with the coordinated actions of hands. While providing their feedback, B Suresh Reddy, a participant, felt that the training has brought a great change in him and made him a person who could stand in front of a large audience without any fear. He lamented that had he got a similar opportunity about 20 years back, life would have been different. Another participant, C Sridhar explained that the two-day programme has filled in him a kind of craving to achieve something greater in life.

Describing the training programme as a complete development package, he assured that several of his friends would join in the upcoming batches. Ch Janardhan Reddy from Medak district felt confident that he would be able to debate on issues related to public interest more effectively with the help of the skills he obtained here.
