Mahbubnagar: District Collector T K Sridevi has felt that education is the only strongest weapon in the hands of the people to ensure comprehensive development. While taking part as a chief guest at “Prerana Classes” organised by 10th class students at China Jeeyar Swamy Ashram at Muchintala Village on Saturday, the Collector expressed her concern over low literacy levels in the district. Low literacy rate among women was a worrying factory, she said.

The Collector said despite abundant resources and Mahbubnagar being in the near proximity to Hyderabad, it was unfortunate that the people had not utilised the opportunity to improve their education and economic prosperity. “We have well connected national highways, lot of industries and even the International airport is also just 50-60 km away from the district.

We can utilise all these facilities for faster connectivity, for higher education and employment opportunities. This will definitely improve the living standards of the people in the district,” said Sridevi. For improving the education standards and increase the literacy among the people in the district, the Collector stressed the need to make all efforts. “We are going for smart class system in all government schools to provide quality education and enhance the learning and understanding abilities of the students.

This year we are planning to achieve 100 per cent results in the 10th calss examinations and ensure that Mahbubnagar would emerge top among the districts in the State. If education develops all the other sectors will automatically. With the improvement of the economic standards the living standards of the people will also develop and we can achieve overall development in the district,” the Collector expressed her hope.

The Collector sought cooperation from the teachers to achieve higher literacy and make the district the education hub. While talking on the occasion, China Jeeyar Swamy reiterated that there was a need for every individual to realise the importance of education in their lives. “Everyone should realise the importance of education.
