Vemulawada (Karimnagar): Scores of devotees thronged the Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple on Monday, on the occasion of Maha Sivaratri . According to the temple authorities, more than three lakh pilgrims visited the shrine to have a darshan of Lord Shiva.

While two priests from Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam presented silk clothes to Lord Shiva, District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad and local MLA Ch Ramesh Babu presented clothes to the God on behalf of the Telangana State government.

Compared to the previous year, the crowd at the shrine was reduced because of the recently concluded biennial tribal fare Sammakka-Saralamma jatara held from February 17 to 20.

Though the temple authorities made elaborate arrangements on the occasion of Maha Sivaratri, devotees faced difficulties in queue lines. They have to wait for hours together in the serpentine queue lines as it took four hours time to have lord darshan. The volunteers of the Satya Sai Trust arranged water cans at the queue lines to quench the thrust of the devotees.
