Kisan Morcha lauds Centre for reducing BT cotton seed rates
BJP Kisan Morcha national general secretary P Sugunakar Rao praised the Union government for reducing the prices of BT cotton seeds. The price of BT2 cotton seed reduced to Rs 800 from Rs 930 while BT1 price has come down to Rs 630 from Rs 830.
Karimnagar: BJP Kisan Morcha national general secretary P Sugunakar Rao praised the Union government for reducing the prices of BT cotton seeds. The price of BT2 cotton seed reduced to Rs 800 from Rs 930 while BT1 price has come down to Rs 630 from Rs 830.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Sugunakar Rao said with a sacred motto to reduce the burden on farming community, the Central government on January 29 appointed a committee along with agricultural experts and farmers to go into the details of the seeds prices.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, the Union government, led by PM Narendra Modi has decided to reduce the price of cotton seeds. It will be a great benefit for farmers since about six crore BT cotton seed pockets were being used across the country and one crore pocket in Telangana State.
Besides, the Centre was also committed to reduce investment on agriculture, enhance production and provide marketing facility to farmers. Earlier, farmers used to stand in long queues at agricultural offices to get urea bags but now there was no such kind of situation. The Centre has put an end for the black marking of urea by coating neem layer on urea, he informed.
To do more benefit to farmers by creating competition and put an end to middlemen system, the Centre has decided to introduce National Agricultural Market by interlinking 247 market yards in seven states. The government has already given Rs 30 lakh to each market yard to develop infrastructure and PM Narendra Modi would launch the programme on April 14.
