Nalgonda: Reminding that Nalgonda Municipality would get Rs 37 crore under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, the Nalgonda Municipal Chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi Srinivas on Tuesday made it clear that Nalgonda would be made drinking water problem free municipality within one year.
- Funds to be spent for setting up overhead water tanks in an attempt to solve the drinking water problem on a permanent basis in the town
- Nalgonda is the first municipality which had prepared Detailed Project Report (DPR) for AMRUT scheme
Speaking at a programme here, she reminded that the Centre has sanctioned Rs 37 crore to Nalgonda Municipality under AMRUT scheme. The funds would be spent for setting up overhead water tanks in an attempt to solve the drinking water problem on a permanent basis in the town.
Stating that that Nalgonda was the first municipality which had prepared Detailed Project Report (DPR) for AMRUT scheme, she sought people’s cooperation for the development of the Municipality. Earlier, Nalgonda MLA and Congress Deputy Floor leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy formally launched a water tank, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore in fourth ward.
Municipal councillors B Nagaraju, Miryala Yadagiri, Morishetti Nageshwar Rao, Nagarathnam Raju, Latheef, Srinivas Reddy and Congress leader Boddupalli Srinivas also attended the programme. The absence of Municipal Commissioner Alivelu Mangathayaru at the programme has raised questions over the inauguration of the water tank.
It is learnt that the officials actually planned the inauguration programme on March 20. It is already known that the Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali has officially inaugurated the new RDO office building a few months ago after it was ‘unofficially inaugurated’ by Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
