Collector warns of stern action against sand mafia

Nalgonda: The District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy on Tuesday ordered mining and other line departments’ officials to take stringent action against illegal sand transporters. At a District level sand committee meeting at his camp office in Nalgonda on Tuesday, he directed the officials to file cases against licensed sand contractors who violate the mining norms. They often surrender the illegal sand transport vehicles to court when caught during checking.

The Collector also directed officials immediately to dispose the grievance applications of those patta holders whose land has been deposited with sand during floods. At the conclusion of the meeting, the sand committee agreed to lift sand from Pulichinthala submerged areas. DRO Ravi, Mining Deputy Director Jithendhar, Assistant directors, vigilance, Irrigation, Panchayath Raj and other officials were also present in the meeting.
