20 huts burnt down

Warangal: 20 huts were burnt down at Repalle village in Duggondi mandal in Warangal district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when electricity wires were cut off and fell on the houses due to heavy and thunderstorms that swept many places in the district. No loss of humans was reported but heavy property loss took place in the incident.

District headquarters of Warangal plunged into darkness as power was cut off for long duration due to thunderstorms and heavy winds. Trees were uprooted and crops were damaged across the district.

Traffic flow was disrupted on Warangal-Hyderabad highway as trees were fell on the roads at Peddapendyal and Station Ghanpur. Crops like water melon, turmeric, paddy, chilli and vegetable fields, banana plantations and mango groves were damaged due to thunderstorms.
