Hyderabad: Buoyed with the Palair byelection result, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday dared the opposition parties to prove charges of corruption leveled against the government or face cases of defamation for making baseless allegations.
Speaking to the media after declaration of the byelection result, he said that the result of Palair was a clear endorsement of policies and programmes adopted by TRS government and added that there was consistent support by the people to the party.
Expressing his ire over the Opposition, the Chief Minister said so far they had talked of corruption and kickbacks. So far the government had not taken the issues seriously and we have been ignoring such charges.
But from now on we will file cases if the opposition parties fail to produce concrete evidence. There is a limit to one’s tolerance. Hence forth we will not tolerate false allegations. We will file defamation cases on the people who make baseless allegations, said KCR.
Thanking the people for the faith reposed in the government, KCR said the victory had put greater responsibility on the TRS government and the party. He said Palair had never witnessed such huge victory margin.
In 2014 elections the party had got only 41,00 votes but this time it got more than 96,000 votes, the Chief Minister said. People have set aside the sentiment and endorsed the government’s policies and performance, he said.
“I would like to advice Congress party that the politics of 1947 will not work now. Your fight should be on the issues concerning the people and if the government fails to address them you can point it out and see that the government resolves them,” he said.
KCR also found fault over Congress party’s demand to replace Khammam Collector. He also pointed out that Collector Lokesh Kumar was awarded best election officer by ECI during 2014 elections.
Referring to the comments made by TBJP president K Laxman that the state government had failed to spend the funds given by the Centre, the Chief Minister said the new president was behaving like a ‘new beggar’ who does not know when to beg.
KCR said, “When I met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I clearly told him that we are ahead of the Centre in spending funds in tackling drought. We demanded Rs 3,000 crore but the Centre had allocated only Rs 700 crore.
We sought support of the Prime Minister in three of our works including Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha and awarding national project status to one irrigation project,” said KCR. He asked the BJP leaders Laxman and Bandaru Dattatraya to get the matter expedited.
