Hyderabad: Swiftly reacting to the outbursts of Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy against TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Congress’s disciplinary committee on Sunday served a ‘show cause’ notice on him.
He challenged the authority of the committee in serving the notice and asserted that this would have no impact on him. A day after the voice of dissent in the form of Komatireddy, party Disciplinary Committee chairman M Kodanda Reddy served him with a ‘show cause’ notice.
He said the action was initiated after the committee found that the MLA had not only spoken against the party’s policies, but also challenged the decision of the high command.
On Saturday, the Nalgonda MLA had questioned the decision of the high command in appointing Ponnala Laxmaiah and later N Uttam Kumar Reddy as PCC presidents, as they failed to connect with the party workers or general public.
He said the appointment of Uttam Kumar Reddy was one of the biggest mistakes of the party high command and felt that the party immediately needed a surgery, lest it undergoes post-mortem. He put the onus of recent defeats on the attitude of the current PCC chief.
On serving of the show cause notice, PCC general secretary D Sravan said Komatireddy’s statements amounted to violation of party discipline. The CLP leader, K Jana Reddy strongly condemned the statements and described this as personal attack on Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday appealed to the Telangana Congress leaders to restrain from criticising each other in public.
