Missing girl succumbs after suicide attempt

​Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl, who went missing from Kukatpally last Tuesday, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday. The police had traced the missing girl and her friend to Bhadrachalam, where the duo was found unconscious. According to the police, the girl after appearing for her Class X examinations in May this year, had gone to her maternal grandmother’s house in Guntur district, where she fell in love with a lorry driver, G Ravi Kumar (23).

After her return to Hyderabad on May 18 also, she was in touch with Ravi on phone. “On Tuesday, she went to her school to attend a coaching class and did not return. After searching throughout the day, her parents lodged a missing complaint,” said Kukatpally police. On enquiry, it was found that she made a call to Ravi and the call was traced to Bhadrachalam.

A special police team located them at a hotel and the room was locked from inside. “The team broke open the door and found them lying unconscious with froth in their mouth and the articles strewn all over in the room. The duo was brought to Hyderabad after first aid and were admitted to a hospital. On Sunday, they both died while undergoing treatment,” the police said, adding a pesticide bottle was recovered from the room where the duo stayed.
