Hyderabad: With the party getting strengthened in the State and several leaders from Congress and TDP joining the TRS, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has now embarked on another big task of developing ‘competitive leadership’ among Ministers and district leaders.

This formula is applicable to State IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao and IrrigationMinister T Harish Rao also. Achieving the goals is necessary if one has to grow in his/her political career, the Chief Minister is said to have told the party leaders and Ministers recently, indicated sources close to the Chief Minister.

Sources told The Hans India that KCR was now keenly observing the leadership abilities and administrative skills among cabinet colleagues and leaders in the districts. For instance, in Warangal district, KCR told Dayakar Rao to strengthen the party while asking Srihari to ensure that the welfare schemes were properly implemented.

“The CM’s plan is to promote as many as leaders in every district so that there was participatory leadership and no single leader has any dominance." In Khammam district, besides utilising the services of senior leader and Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Pongueti Srinivasa Reddy, who recently joined TRS from the YSRCP, and Congress MLA P Ajay were asked to monitor the developmental activities.

Though TRS emerged victorious in the recently held bypolls to Palair Assembly constituency and Khammam Municipal Corporation election, KCR wants to make the district a bastion of TRS by 2019 elections. Similarly, recently elected Rajya Sabha MP D Srinivas was entrusted with strengthening the party in Nizamabad district where State Agriculture Minister P Srinivasa Reddy and Nizamabd MP and KCR's daughter K Kavitha hold sway. The responsibility of Srinivas is to regroup all his Congress loyalists for TRS victory in the next elections.

Political circles say that if Congress leaders Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and his younger brother and MLC Rajagopal Reddy join TRS, their services would be utilised to make Nalgonda a "fortress" of TRS by 2019 elections. Political circles are expecting that the duo would join the TRS soon. Here the competition would be between Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy and the Komatireddy brothers in making it a TRS citadel.

In Mahbubnagar district, KCR is trying hard to develop competitive leadership by roping in leaders from Opposition parties also. Efforts are on to rope in senior Congress leader DK Aruna, MLA SA Sampath Kumar and others.

“The biggest challenge before KCR is to consolidate TRS by extracting leadership abilities of every leader. Many TRS leaders are already on tenterhooks to prove their leadership after joining from TDP and Congress. His vision is to create healthy political competition among his party leaders at every level. Their political growth in party would depend on their performance, the source added.
