Nalgonda: AIDWA, CPM women wing, staged a novel protest against the skyrocketing vegetables prices and the government’s inefficiency in controlling the prices here on Saturday.

As a part of the protest, they tied different vegetables to a stick with a tag showing their past and present prices in the market. Later they burnt the effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that he neglected to solve the basic issues.

Speaking to the media, AIDWA leader Prabhavathi alleged that the government was responsible for the abnormal price hike of vegetables and pulses. The common man was not in a position to have meals twice a day with the increased prices, she lamented.

Unless the officials take stern action against block marketers, middlemen and traders, who create artificial shortage of essential commodities and vegetables for their profits, the common man has to suffer, she added. AIDWA district president Mallu Lakshmi demanded the government taking necessary steps to control the prices of vegetables for the welfare of BPL families.
