​Adilabad: A farmer, Eerla Narayana suddenly died of heart attack at the Bank of Maharashtra in Jainam mandal headquarters in the district on Wednesday when he came to know that his loan was not waived. Going into details, Narayana took a loan of Rs 55,000 from the bank to irrigate his lands and was under the false impression that it was waived by the government. He went to the bank to pay interest and take another loan.

However, the Bank of Maharashtra Manager told Narayana that his loan was not waived and he had to repay it along with a huge amount of interest. A distraught Narayana collapsed on hearing the news and died of cardiac arrest in the premises of the bank. While he died at 3 PM on Wednesday, his body lay in the bank till 5 PM with the bank officials not making any arrangements to shift the body home.

Speaking to Hans India, the brother-in-law of the deceased K Lakshmaiah lamented that Narayana died as the government failed to waive his loan. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Lakshamaiah appealed to the State government for financial help to the bereaved
family.
