Khammam: CPI-ML (New Democracy) demanded the government releasing of pending bills of the Indiramma houses.
Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, the CPI-ML district secretary Potu Ranga Rao said that there are at least 46,000 houses under construction at various stages in the district.
“The beneficiaries are in dire straits as they took up the construction of houses with their own resources. Now they landed in the debt trap as the government failed to release the funds,” Rao said, accusing the administration of being insensitive towards the beneficiaries.
Though the beneficiaries are running pillar to post, there was no response from the administration, he said, criticising the government for sitting on Rs 342 crore funds meant for Indiramma houses.
Referring to the double bedroom scheme, Rao said that though the government sanctioned 60,000 units last year, not even a single house was constructed.
The double bedroom scheme is being carried only in the villages adopted by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and nowhere in the State, he said, criticising the government for not earmarking adequate funds for the scheme.
He said that their party has already started organising village and mandal-level protests from July 1 and it will be continued till July 20. He urged the people to make success of their ‘Chalo Collectorate’ protest on July 25 by taking part in large numbers.
Senior leaders Kechela Rangaiah, Avula Venkateswarlu, R Siva Lingam and A Ashok were among others present.
