Siddipet: Development of Siddipet town was getting a big boost, with the initial allocation of Rs 20 crore under the Amruta Dhara Scheme.

The second phase of the allocation would be Rs 41 crore, said Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao here on Thursday.Speaking after inaugurating the Rs 9.5 crore-drainage works in Indiranagar, he stated that special attention would be devoted to develop underground water sources and sewerage canals.

The initial amount of Rs 20 crore was being spent for the all-round development of Rangadhampalli, Narsapur, Imambad, Hanumannagar, Gadicharlapalli and Prashanthnagar areas.

The Minister revealed that with the second phase release of Rs 41 crore, construction of a sewerage plant near the Chintal Tank would begin.

He called upon the officials to expedite various development works. Municipal Commissioner Ramanachary, OSD Balaraju and several councilors accompanied him.

After participating in the Ramzan prayers at Sufiya Mosque, Rao conveyed Id greetings to the gathering. At Iqbal Minar he urged both Muslims and Hindus to maintain communal harmony. Among those present were MLC Farooq Hussain, RDO Muthyam Reddy, DSP Sridhar and others.
