Warangal: Young researchers should focus on issues related to the society and make efforts to address them, said Sridhar Chavali, a technical expert in Big data analytics at TCS, Hyderabad.

He addressed a gathering at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW) on Friday, where a two-day faculty development programme on ‘Big Data Analytics using Hadoop and R-Tools’ was organised by the department of information technology (IT).

Sridhar further said that there was a need to fill the gap between the industry and academic institutes to take the beneficial results of the research work to the common man.

Another data scientist from TCS Hyderabad, Sandeep Malla explaining the benefits of ‘Big Data Analytics’, said huge volumes of data analysis could be visualised in a very short span of time 0.6 seconds using the latest tools.

KITSW director Y Manohar highlighted the importance of ethics in research and suggested to follow good practices in research in tune with the changing trends on global scenario.

KITSW IT head Prof P Kamakshi said 60 participants attended the programme from various engineering colleges. There were 18 scholars currently pursuing research work for their doctoral degree in the department.

During the academic year 2015-16, nearly 55 MNCs and Indian companies visited KITSW and offered placements to 270 students of engineering and MBA, informed the college dean (placements) Y Purandar and training and placement officer D Harikrishna.
