GHMC set to plant 30L saplings
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the success of the mega plantation drive by the state government as a part of its prestigious flagship prorgramme Haritha Haram on Monday.

Hyderabad: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the success of the mega plantation drive by the state government as a part of its prestigious flagship prorgramme Haritha Haram on Monday.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is all set to plant about 30 lakh saplings in a single day at 4,173 locations across the city with the help of about 104 organisations. It has set up special counters at major temples and churches to distribute medicinal and homestead plants.
About 36 government departments would plant 16.40 lakh saplings, 35 Central government departments would plant 1.50 lakh saplings and 33 private organisations would plant 10.78 lakh saplings.
Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Cabinet ministers, MLAs, celebrities and a host of luminaries from all walks of life would be part of the record plantation drive here in the city on Monday.
The GHMC along with HMDA and Forest department have dug as many as 28.80 lakh pits in the city. The GHMC would contribute 13.50 lakh saplings, HMDA 12 lakh saplings and the Forest department 3 lakh saplings.
About 2.50 lakh saplings would planted at Janwada, 1 lakh saplings in Hyderabad Central University (UoH), 1 lakh in DRDL, Dundigul, 1 lakh saplings in Pragathi Resorts, 60,000 saplings in Lahari Resorts, 60,000 saplings in Jawahar Nagar and 50,000 saplings in Prof Jayashanker Agricultural University.
Speaking to the media, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said people from different walks of life have been coming forward to participate in the programme in a big way and assured them that the civic body would strive to maintain 33 per cent greenery across the city.
The Governor would plant saplings at BHEL (Patancheru), Green Land and Dilkusha Guest House, KCR at NIMS, MA&UD minister K Taraka Rama Rao at TCS building in Hi-tec City, Biodiversity Park, Uppal Bhagat, Jawaharnagar and other places. Celebrities from the film industry, sportspersons, and other prominent people would be part of this mega-plantation drive.
