Hyderabad: The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) is taking the issue of categorisation of scheduled castes to New Delhi. As a part of the campaign for Parliamentary enactment, the MRPS plans a month long action programme in Jantar Mantar from July 19, till the completion of the present Parliament session.

Cultural artistes, lawyers, doctors, retired employees, professors, writers, journalists, people’s representatives, women, students, youth, Singareni workers and cross section of people will be mobilised in this campaign. Different sections will participate in the dharna on each day.

Interestingly, the MRPS will be enlisting the support of scheduled tribes, backward classes, minorities in defence of the demand for categorisation of scheduled castes. Even the Malas sympathetic to the categorisation will also be participating in the programme, Manda Krishna Madiga told
The Hans India.

The massive campaign is aimed at putting force on the Central government and all the other political parties to translate their commitment to the cause into reality. As the ruling TRS is also supporting the SC categorisation in Telangana, the MRPS delegation will call on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and request him to extend the support for the campaign.

Failing to get an appointment to meet the CM, the MRPS plans to take out a rally to CM camp office on July 18 to press for their demand.
To mark the Delhi programme, the MRPS is organising protests on July 15 across Andhra Pradesh. The BJP while in opposition promised to support the bill, if the UPA introduces it, and promised to introduce the bill in 100 days, if voted to power.
