Bhadrachalam (Khammam): The flood may have receded in Godavari river giving a sigh of relief to the people living in the Agency, but not before it showed up several glaring chinks in the administration’s preparedness.

The water level which hovered close to third and final flood alert for better part of Tuesday finally receded by Wednesday morning.

The water level in the river at Bhadrachalam is 45.2 feet at 9 pm on Wednesday with first flood alert still in force.

The vehicular traffic between the temple town and Wajedu has been restored.

The road connectivity to Kunavaram route is also restored.

Though the backwaters of Godavari which seeped through the sluice gates of the karakatta (flood bank) into the town is cleared, the muddy roads are giving a tough time to the people.

The waterlogged Kotha colony of the town is still in mud puddles.
