Khammam: It’s been more than two years since the TRS government came to power, but there is no sign of double bedroom scheme moving forward, CPI (M) district secretary Pothineni Sudarshan Rao said.

Addressing a seminar in which party urban wing leaders took part here on Sunday, he said the TRS which promised a host of sops to downtrodden, dalits, tribals and minorities has totally failed to implement them.

The double bedroom houses, three-acre land and 12 per cent reservations to tribals and minorities remained a publicity stunt,” Rao said, criticising the government for not focusing on them.

Both father and son - Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Minister for Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao – were competing with each other in making promises to the poor. However, it’s not possible to hoodwink people all the time, he said.

Talking about urbanisation, party state secretariat member DG Narsimha Rao said: “Though urbanisation is in full swing since the start of 1991 due to economic liberalisation policies in the country, the successive Central and State governments failed to provide required amenities and infrastructure. As a result, the people living in urban areas have been facing hardships.”

The health care of the people is appalling due to ever growing issues such as housing, drainage and sanitation, he said.Referring to the Smart and AMRUT Cities projects initiated by the Union government, the Free Software Movement of India (FSMI) general secretary Kiran Chandra termed it as damp squib. Instead the government should focus on the issued faced by the people, he said.

CPM district secretariat member Yerra Srikanth, Khammam division secretary Yerra Srinivasa Rao, senior leaders SD Naqui, Bhukya Ramesh, Dodda Ravi, Venkat Reddy, Bandi Rajesh, T Vishnuvardhan, Papineni Rama Narsaiah, SK Meira, Vasireddy Mallikkharjuna Rao, Bandaru Yakaiah, Dr Bharavi, Bandaru Ramesh and Narra Ramesh were among others present.
