Hyderabad: The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) would conduct an inquiry in to the alleged ‘paper leak’ of Telangana EAMCET-II.

The inquiry has been ordered after a complaint by TS EAMCET convenor N V Ramana Rao on Wednesday, following allegations by some student organisations and parents about the EAMCET-II paper leak.

“The CID has formed special teams to investigate the matter,” said CID DIG C Ravi Verma. “Since time is running out for the verification of certificates for admissions into MBBS and BDS, which start from July 25, we have asked for an inquiry on the issue to clear doubts being raised by a section of the parents,” said EAMCET convenor N V Ramana Rao.

Though EAMCET-II results were announced last week no specific dates were announced for counseling. Authorities, however, were planning to start the admission process in August first week. But with allegations of a paper leak arising, students aspiring to join in MBBS and BDS courses are worried whether certificate verification and counseling would be held as per scheduled.

Some parents cited instances where students secured ranks within the top 100 in TS EAMCET 2 and the same student got a rank in 1000s in EAMCET exam conducted by the neighbouring AP government.

Parents alleged that some students who secured a rank in the top 100 ranks in TS EAMCET had unimpressive Intermediate marks. Some parents in Warangal complained that eight students, all hailing from one village, got a rank in top 100.

A total 47,644 of the 50,961 candidates who appeared for the entrance examination have qualified in the exam.

Earlier, Health minister C Laxma Reddy said that a committee would be formed to investigate allegations of an unholy nexus between authorities.

“The educational background of all suspicious students will be verified. If anyone is found guilty, we will take serious action,” he said.
