Eminent historian, research scholar, archeologist and senior epigraphist PV Parabrahma Sastry breathed his last here on Wednesday at the age of 96. 

Hyderabad: Eminent historian, research scholar, archeologist and senior epigraphist PV Parabrahma Sastry breathed his last here on Wednesday at the age of 96.

He was born in 1921 in Pedakondur village in Guntur district. He retired as Deputy Director in Department of Archeology, and played a prominent role in rebuilding the history of Kakatiya dynasty.

He was instrumental in finding out many facts around Rani Rudrama’s death and revealed that she died in 1290 AD.

He worked on the inscriptions in Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda and Kadapa districts along with his team and wrote many articles that stand as the main source of information for the present-day historians.

His readings of the inscriptions of the Pallava Dynasty have revealed many unknown facets of the dynasty.

He was the National Fellow of the Indian Council for Historical Research and Honorary President of Andhra Pradesh History Congress. He was actively involved in research work until recently.
