Adilabad: Nalgonda Congress MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on Tuesday revealed that the slain gangster Nayeemuddin had threatened to kill him if he failed to withdraw from the fray in election held to the Legislative Council.

Addressing the Rythu Garjana organised by the Congress party here to exert pressure on the TRS government on issues confronting the farmers, Rajagopal Reddy claimed that Nayeem had also held out threats to others.

The MLC alleged that 99 per cent of the TRS leaders were Nayeem’s followers. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the criminal activities of Nayeem. Former Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki said Nayeem was killed to protect the lands belonging to TRS MP K Kavitha.

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was ‘cheating’ people. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had run away from Parliament when the party sought a discussion on attacks on Dalits and the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He alleged that the government was trying to ensure benefit to contractors by going in for overnight changes in designs of the irrigation projects.

The AICC leader stated that the party had a cow protection policy after the Working Committee adopted a resolution in 1930. Singh said the party would take up a State-wide campaign to explain the TRS government’s injustice to farmers.
