Plans afoot to supply safe water to all villages by December
Mission Bhagiratha vice chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy directed the officials concerned to prepare an action plan to supply safe and potable waters to all villages identified in the State as part of the water scheme by December end.

Holding a review meeting on the prestigious scheme at the Secretariat on Thursday, Prashanth Reddy asked the officials to expedite the works related to the scheme along with laying of duct wires for providing internet facility to every household in segments and villages. “If the works are taken up in the same speed, we can supply potable water and internet facility by next December,” Prashanth Reddy maintained.
The vice chairman directed the Superintendent Engineers (SEs) to stop paying bills to the agencies for not laying duct lines and causing delay in works. He sought to know about the works of intake wells, water treatment plants and the length of pipelines laid so far. The officials should keep in mind that providing water as well as internet facility simultaneously to the households was first-of-its-kinds in the world. He asked to focus on land acquisition and address the related problems.
Construction of 19 intake wells, 50 WTPs, OHBR and sumps be completed by December this year, pipeline laying to OHSR to all villages by December 2017 to provide treated waters of the Godavari and the Krishna to enable supplying of waters to every household by 2018 to reach the target. He asked to prepare status report and action plan on the works as the Chief Minister was expected to make a review soon.
Panchayat Raj Special Chief Secretary SP Singh said he had never seen in his service that the Centre giving permissions immediately related to Forest, Railway and National Highways departments for the Mission Bhagiratha project. This was achieved with the persistent efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, SP Singh noted.
