Inflows are increasing by the day into  Pulichintala Project, following heavy rains during the last four days, several streams at the upstream of the reservoir are receiving huge inflows which led to flood-like situation in upstream Nalgonda district.   

Amaravati: Inflows are increasing by the day into Pulichintala Project, following heavy rains during the last four days, several streams at the upstream of the reservoir are receiving huge inflows which led to flood-like situation in upstream Nalgonda district.

While reservoir capacity is 44 tmc feet, at present 14 tmc feet of water is available in the reservoir. On Wednesday alone the project received 30,000 cusecs of water.

When the excess water is flowing into the reservoir, the villages at the upstream of the reservoir in Nalgonda district are facing a flood-like situation. In fact, Telangana government has requested the Minister for Irrigation Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, to release the water from the reservoir. In response, Devineni assured to look into the matter after discussing with officials concerned.

Chittiryala, Nemalirpuri, Atlur, Gundeboyanagudem villages in Nalgonda district are facing flood threat.T-state government shifted families residing in these villages to the safer places today. Meanwhile,if the heavy inflows are released, Bodhanam,Kollur, Ketavaram,Yammigudem and Pulichinta village under Bellamkonda mandal likely to get flood water.

The revenue and police today shifted the people residing in the villages to the safer places. Revenue and police officials posted at the reservoir site to monitor the situation. The Pulichintala Project S.E. Venkata Ramana today visited the reservoir site along with the officials and reviewed the situation.

The district collector Kantilal Dande put the revenue and irrigation officials on high alert and reviewed the situation.
Narasaraopet Revenue Divisional Officer P.Ravindra said " We have taken all the precautionary measures and put on officials on high alert. We are closely monitoring the situation. So far water is not released from the reservoir."
