Warangal: Teachers play a great role in shaping the personality of students and have responsibility in the development of a healthy society, said Warangal ZP Chairperson G Padma.She addressed a gathering of teachers at 'Gurupujostavam-2016' organised by the district education department at Ambedkar Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Thursday.

She said the future of the future citizens of the country lies in the hands of the teachers and it makes their profession a noble one. The teachers have to emulate former President of India Sarvepally Radhakrishnan and Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar, Padma appealed and said ‘Teachers must make every effort to help the students to become the best citizens of the nation’.

District Collector V Karuna opined that teachers play superior role in building the nation and moulds the character of their students. The teachers should inculcate values and ethics in the children besides teaching academics. Collective efforts have to be made by the teachers in building a ‘Golden Telangana’, she added.

About 204 best teacher awardees have been felicitated and presented mementos and cash certificates marking the Teachers' Day.
MLA D Vinay Bhasker, Additional Joint Collector S Tirupathi Rao, Regional Joint Director of education Y Balaiah, District Education Officer P Rajiv and leaders of various teachers unions were present. School students presented cultural programmes.
