Announces cash prizes of `50,000 for students joining medicine and `40,000 for those joining BAMS, BDS etc

Hyderabad: It was a dream come true for the 77 students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS), who secured top ranks in TS Eamcet-III. Thanks to the Operation Blue Crystal Programme (OPBC), which was initiated by the TSWREIS during 2015-16 academic year with an objective of providing free long-term medical coaching to meritorious students from poor Scheduled Caste communities.

The OPBC programme was a boon to the students hailing from poor socio-economic background as the TSWREIS believes that poverty and deprivation should not hold anyone back in fulfilling his or her dreams and aspirations. Sharon Rose, a topper said: “I wanted to become a doctor and nothing else in life. It feels great. I am thankful to the Society for launching free coaching for poor students like me.”

Minister Jagadishwar Reddy felicitated the toppers at his chambers in the Secretariat. He announced cash prize of Rs 50,000 for students who would be joining Medicine and Rs 40,000 for students who would be joining other medical courses like BDS, BAMS and so on. The students should not suffer because of financial problems, the Minister added.

The Minister also congratulated the Secretary, DEOs, Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff for their hard work and commitment towards providing quality education to the needy children as envisaged by the Chief Minister. Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said: “It is a matter of pride that students of the TSWREIS bringing laurels to the Society by getting admission into prestigious national institutions like IITs, NITs, Azim Premji University and TISS.” TSWREIS secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar and Scheduled Castes Development Corporation secretary Mahesh Dutt Ekka congratulated the toppers for their achievement.
