Hyderabad: The state government on Friday night issued an ordinance amending the Telangana Districts (Formation) (Amendment) Act which would enable formation of the new districts. The final notification of the new districts would be announced on October 11. The Telangana Cabinet, which met on Friday, discussed all the issues threadbare relating to regorganisation of the districts.
Though Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, who briefed the media, did not give any indication of how many districts would be there, but sources indicate that the total number of districts would be 31.
The government also issued a Memo stating that all officers and staff of the General Administration Department should attend office by 11.30 am and remain in office as per exigencies of duties from October 8 to 11 which happen to be public holidays and optional holidays.
Srihari said that the amendment in the Act through an ordinance would help the government to do away with the exercise like notification and public hearing for the proposed districts of Sircilla, Jangaon, Gadwal and Asifabad.
The cabinet also discussed the proposal to name the districts after famous personalities like PV Narasimha Rao, Konda Laxman Bapuji, Suravaram Pratap Reddy. Rajabhadur Venkatrami Reddy, Prof. Jayashankar, Chakali Ilamma, G Venkataswamy, Mahendranath, Rajanna, Yadadri, Jogulamba and Komaram Bheem. Nearly one lakh applications, including suggestions and objections on new districts were received, said Srihari.
The cabinet also approved in principle the appointment of Collectors and SPs in all new districts. State Revenue and Police departments have been asked to make arrangements for the deployment of the officials immediately after the final notification was issued. KCR also directed the ministers to hold public meetings in all the new districts.
For the development of BCs, the Cabinet gave its nod to the constitution of long-pending issue of BC Commission. It also approved the proposal to set up 119 BC residential educational institutions for backward communities in 2017-18 and another 90 educational institutions for minorities next year under the KG-to-PG programme.
An ordinance for the same would be promulgated, Srihari said. The Cabinet also decided to promulgate another ordinance for the establishment of Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Siddipet and Nizamabad police commissionerate. To prevent the delay in addressing the encroachments in the urban bodies, the state cabinet approved the constitution of Municipal Building Tribunal.
Unified rules for urban local bodies, 23 new police Sub Divisions, 28 circles and 92 new police stations, establishment of fire stations in Yadadri and Peddshankaram Peta, the completion of 24,648 houses in Greater Hyderabad limits by taking Hudco loans and the exemption of transport tax on autos and tractors bought in 2014 were among the other decisions taken at the cabinet meeting.
