Hyderabad: Congress leaders warned the BJP that they would not keep quiet if the ruling party insulted the first Prime Minister of the nation Jawaharlal Nehru. Congress leaders including Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Congress Legislature Party leader K Jana Reddy, Opposition leader in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, MP KM Khan, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary V Hanumantha Rao, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, former Ministers Danam Nagender, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, MLA SA Sampath Kumar, MLCs M Ranga Reddy, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, TPCC general secretaries Azmathullah Hussaini, Uzma, officials spokesperson G Niranjan and others participated in the programme.

Later, Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali paid tributes to Nehru while participating in Nehru’s birth anniversary celebrations held at Gandhi Bhavan. At Abids, Hanumantha Rao took up deeksha where Jawaharlal Nehru’s statue was located here on Monday, protesting the Central government’s attitude in not publishing the photo of Nehru in the advertisement issued by it. Speaking on the occasion, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that the Central government intentionally insulted Nehru, who strived for the nation building.

The BJP leaders were speaking without having prior historical knowledge. Nehru became the Prime Minister and Sardar Vallabhai Patel became Deputy Prime Minister of the nation with the decision of the Congress High Command, he said and wondered how the BJP would question the Congress’ decision.
