While Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced in the Assembly that they would pass the bill providing 12 per cent reservation to Muslims during the budget session, a senior Minister felt that the Centre may not agree to it.

In an informal chat with the media in the lobbies of the Assembly, the Minister said the BJP’s overwhelming performance indicated that the party would go in a much more aggressive manner in the days to come and would focus its attention now more on southern States. The next target of BJP would be Karnataka which is scheduled to go for polls next year. The party has already started the spade work in that State and soon it would also turn its attention on Telangana State.

He said the BJP national president Amit Shah had already made it clear that he would personally monitor the situation in Telangana State. The threat from the Congress party is not that much, but BJP undoubtedly has good base in Telangana State and hence their moves need to be watched carefully.

The BJP had succeeded in bringing clear polarisation in UP and indicated that it was predominantly a Hindu party and yet succeeded and hence a close watch on their moves would become necessay, he said.

Meanwhile, BJP State president K Laxman told the media, "Till now, we have consolidated our position in the North and Northeastern States. Hereafter, our party will concentrate on South India, particularly on Karnataka and TS.”
