The former Minister is the first Indian to receive this prestigious citation and proclamation from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

The former Minister and Congress leader Shabbir is the first Indian to receive this prestigious citation and proclamation from the MWRD. In his acceptance speech at a glittering event held in Chicago town by the MWRD Board on Thursday, Shabbir Ali said the honour was another feather in the cap of Telangana and explained about Hyderabad city’s water augmentation programme taken up by the GHMC and HMDA during the Congress regime by keeping the demand for the next 25 years in view.

He appreciated water conservation and reclamation campaign of the MWRD in Chicago and invited the officials and MWRD Chairman Frank Aliva to visit Hyderabad for a personal experience of the initiatives.Earlier, Frank Aliva who presented the MWRD proclamation to Shabbir Ali,

said the proclamation resolution was a unique record known all over the USA and was a permanent record of honour introducing the veteran Congress leader Shabbir Ali’s work for humanity and vision for development with human touch for research work on water resources issues in India at all universities.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the MWRD of Greater Chicago had also entered into an MoU with the Krishna University in Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh for research and development. The MWRD protects the health and safety of the public in its service area, protects the quality of water supply source (Lake Michigan),

improves the quality of water in watercourses in its service area, protects businesses and homes from flood damages and manages water as a vital resource for its service area. The district’s service area is 883.5 square miles of Cook County, Illinois.
