Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said the revenue growth of the state government would be more than 15 per cent.

"The states economic growth is very good. State Own Revenue (SOR) for the second quarter for 2016-17 is 21 per cent. The Union Finance Ministry put the growth at 19.5 per cent. The growth rate can never be less than 15 per cent," a release from the Chief Minister's Office quoted Rao as saying in a conference with district Collectors and other officials.

Talking about the sheep distribution scheme of the government, he said the state should become a leading exporter of meat.

He said sheep population is about 44 lakh in the state according to a government survey and another 84 lakh sheep will be purchased from outside the state for distribution.

"The Chief Minister declared that sheep breeding will become a permanent feature for the Telangana state government and what is initiated now is only sowing seeds for a greater tomorrow. Initially, the sheep breeding may create wealth of Rs 20,000 crore in next two years, but ultimately it will touch the sky," the release said.

On the promise of ruling TRS to construct two-bed room houses, Rao said in each Assembly Constituency 1,400 houses would be constructed, it added.
