Hyderabad: SHE teams of the city police arrested a cab driver for misbehaving with a woman, who came to Hyderabad on a trip along with family.The arrested driver has been identified as Mohammed Saleem of Pahadishareef. SHE teams made the arrest acting on a complaint received through WhatsApp.The police said that the woman from Kerala, working in Bengaluru, came to Hyderabad along with her family on a three-day trip to visit Hyderabad and its surrounding places last week. She engaged a cab from a travel agency.
The woman was shell-shocked and screamed at the driver asking him to stop the car but he did not stop and repeated the same act. While they started questioning him, the driver started to drive away with the woman’s mother and aunt in it
After completing their trip, the woman’s family set out to go to the railway station. While she was sitting on the seat adjacent to the driver, her parents and relatives were on the backseat. When the cab was passing Ramanthapur area, the driver unzipped his pants and began showing his private parts to the woman.The woman was shell-shocked and screamed at the driver asking him to stop the car but he did not stop and repeated the same act.
As the woman began shouting repeatedly, he stopped the car and the woman immediately got down from the cab and narrated the incident to her father and uncle, the police said. While they started questioning him, the driver started to drive away with the woman’s mother and aunt in it. Both her father and uncle grabbed the car keys from him following which the driver threw their luggage on the road, the police said.The woman called up the travel agency and complained against the driver. However, she could not lodge a complaint with the police as they were to board the train.
But the woman sent the details of the incident to the WhatsApp number of the Hyderabad city police requesting for necessary action.SHE teams of the city police investigated the case and arrested the accused. The police said women did not need to suffer in silence. “SHE teams are only a call or click away. Any complaints of eve-teasing or street harassment can be sent to SHE teams and details would be kept confidential,” the police said.
