Hyderabad: With acute water shortage in the Secunderabad Cantonment, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) decided not to supply water to the summer camps in the Cantonment. According to senior officials, on an average they get at least two requests every day for water supply to summer camps.

During summer months, several individuals and organisations conduct summer camps for school going children that include activities such as games (indoor and outdoor), traditional Telangana games, abacus, storytelling, handwriting and drama workshops.

Madhavi, a soft skills trainer says, “In our camp there are close to 50 children at any given point of time. We requested the SCB to provide drinking water but citing reasons of lack of enough water, they denied.

We now are buying water bottles.” Officials say that their priority is to first supply to the citizens and slums.
